Knot Your Average Playground

Perched between two giant sycamores, the project stitches together two elevated play platforms with a 15 m rope bridge that sways just enough to feel thrilling but remains engineered for safety. From the bridge you can launch onto a huge swing that arcs through the canopy, cross a set of monkey bars that demand both courage and laughter, or make a dramatic exit down a fireman’s pole—all finished in warm timber, natural rope, and discreet stainless fixings to keep the look rustic and the structure robust.

Design, safety, and play

The design balances wild playfulness with modern safety: load‑spreading tree saddles protect the trunks, guard rails and netting define safe fall zones, and marine‑grade fittings and rot‑resistant timber extend longevity. The layout encourages cooperative games—two platforms mean tag, treasure hunts, and secret‑club logistics—while sightlines and maintenance access keep it manageable for caretakers. Key features are intentionally bold and simple so kids can invent rules: the bridge for balance, the swing for flight, the monkey bars for mischief, and the pole for theatrical exits
